New! Kiril & the Duke Chocolate Cigar Box Gift Set

This signature gift set, housed in a magnificently embossed, vintage-inspired keepsake cigar box, contains all of Dad's haut-chocolat favorites. Named "Kiril & Duke," the set is a tribute to my dear Dedo, whose passion for music was matched only by his love for his family and the finer things: scotch, ouzo, a great whiskey or stout. Dedo brought laughter and music wherever he went, and he knew how to let the good times roll.

To know the history of Kiril Michael Rousseff, my Dedo , we must return to a village in Macedonia in 1912 where an arranged marriage was sealed with a loaf of fresh baked bread and a gold coin. The immigrant couple made their way to the States and settled in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where three children were born, the second was my grandfather, Dedo.

At age nine, Dedo could already feel music in his blood and began trumpet lessons with his neighbor, a famed Macedonian musician. In just five years, Dedo had joined the Macedonian band and though he never learned to read music, he felt the music in his heart and soul. On one serendipitous eve, word spread that the famed Duke Ellington was traveling through town and seeking musicians to join his gig. The 16-year old earned a chance to play. From that night on, Dedo became known around Fort Wayne as "The Duke."

Kiril's passion for music was matched only by his love for his family and a love of the finer things: scotch, ouzo, a great whiskey or stout. Donning hats and colorful plaid sports jackets, he always had a joke to tell and kept his trumpet within reach. Whether on the golf course with his cronies or revving up the crowd at the saloon he owned, Kiril brought laughter and music wherever he went. My grandfather knew how to let the good times roll.

A tribute to him.

-Katrina
