The Ancient Egyptians are believed to be one of the first candy-making enthusiasts, blending indigenous figs, dates, nuts and spices with honeycomb to create an array of sweet treats. These ambrosial bites date back to 2000 B.C., when hieroglyphic pictorials were discovered in tombs.
As the Egyptians mixed and blended they discovered yet another process: panning. By rotating a bowl filled with nuts or small dried fruits and slowly adding a coating, they were able to evenly distribute the liquid on the surface of the nut. Today, special machinery aids in the panning of nuts in chocolate, yet the intrigue of history remains. | I love hazelnuts and I love fine chocolate, so I was very happy to see that Vosges had these! They have the perfect amount of bitter, sweet, crunchy, smooth, and nutty. As always, Vosges creates my favorite chocolate treats to satisfy my sweet tooth. |
