The Elvesia Plantation can be found in the small town of El Valle on the eastern side of the island of Hispaniola. Grown in a sub–tropical climate on beautiful lands, these cocoa beans are fully organic and full of flavor. Cocoa beans grow on this land from Criollo and Trinitario trees brought to this part of the world from Swiss settlers almost 100 years ago. In addition, our partnership with Rainforest Alliance encourages cocoa farming practices that are sustainable over the long term by maintaining a healthy environment, decent working conditions and fair wages. The Alliance works to conserve biodiversity and ensure sustainable livelihoods by transforming land–use practices, business practice and consumer behavior.

For how much I paid, it failed to deliver    
While not bad--this bar has great salty and crunchy elements--I can't help but feel let down from this. The plantains might as well been potato chips: all starch, no sweetness. The deep milk chocolate is not bad, but the bar leaves a stale, starchy note in my mouth. I like quite a few Vosges bars, but this isn't one of them.

One of my Favorites    
Plantains are quite like bananas. They come through like little flavor crystals bursting through the chocolate. Just the right flavors balanced together.

A great new flavor!    
Finally a great new flavor! The plantain chips add wonderful texture to the chocolate bar. It is a bit too sweet I must add. Would love to see these in Dark chocolate.
