Although an innovator and rule breaker, our chocolate heroine was not the first to fuse spicy chili peppers with chocolate: just one of the first to stir up the dormant recipe in the last 500 years. It was in Mexico and Central America where the Aztecs first ground the revered cacao bean, frothing it with water, vanilla beans, chillies, herbs, annatto and cornmeal to create xocatyl, their revered chocolate drink. Yet far, far away from this tropical rainforest in the midst of metropolitan Chicago, the girl read the story of mighty Montezuma. Roused with intrigue, she pondered, "chillies + chocolate?" and declared their destiny for a reuniting kiss...bars of Red Fire chocolate, ice cream, brownies and tortilla chips followed...nothing could stop the list for the return of the ultimate aphrodisiac.
