Vosges Haut-Chocolat opens its third purple door in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood. It will prove to be the most daring and avant-garde venture this chic chocolatier, Katrina Markoff, has attempted yet.
A disciple of Ferran and Alberto Adria of Spain's famed El Bulli restaurant, Markoff stirs up many of her exotic influences into her chocolate and her store design. Each area of the store appeals to a different sense and emotion. As you enter the purple house, the asymmetrical, deconstructed mahogany table will feel a bit whimsy as it represents the creative process in Markoff's art. . Pass through the cocoa pod covered arches to enter the Vosges Lifestyle concept, a place where fashion meets chocolate meets sensory and cultural awareness. Make a wish and tie it to the Japanese "wish" trees centered in the lifestyle room. Join Markoff for a yoga + chocolate experience under the trees. Three Japanese lilac trees rest in the middle of Lifestyle/Yoga room representing Markoff's mantra of bring peace + love + chocolate into the world. Catch the aroma of fresh waffle cones and see large crystal chandeliers hang ornately over the cocoa/ice cream/truffle bar bringing a kiss of New Orleans to this modern coiffe.
