Job Description

Inventory Manager



This individual will be accountable for successful collaboration with internal and external customers and suppliers to prioritize and deliver products and services that meet or exceed the business needs. Communicate with the Inventory Team as well as NPD, Sales, Marketing, Quality Assurance, Purchasing, Manufacturing and CCD. Oversee the inventory and supply planning responsibilities for the facility and/or co-packers. Studying, interpreting, and developing thorough understandings of problems and opportunities.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Manages current and future demand requirements with manufacturing and supplier capabilities/capacities to ensure the completion of customer requirements.
  • Implement methods, practices and techniques to ensure the most economical movement of materials through the supply chain to achieve cost-effective logistics practices and inventory levels while meeting customer delivery requirements.
  • Lead the implementation of the S&OP project; sustain the process and drive for continuous improvement. Managing shelf-life and E&O to minimize scrap.
  • Manages/Reviews the measurement of the demand plan performance and trends to drive better alignment in future planning.
  • Monitors consumption relative to the forecast and drives the appropriate resolution to plan variations/derivations with the Planning Team.
  • Drive monthly planning cycle that delivers an executive approved demand plan that tie to the financial plan.
  • Analyze, report and improve the inbound supply process.
  • Manages off-site storage facilities. Performing monthly physical inventories.
  • Ensure visibility to demand changes, strategic inventory actions for new products & promotions, discontinuances and lead supply chain-related activity for such events.
  • Actively participate in the New Product Development Team.
  • Serve as the primary resource to analyze inventory, production schedules, backorders, future ships, purchases and sales in response to continuous improvement projects and/or periodic business requests.
  • Establishing policies for the inventory management teams that require the ability to balance the often conflicting needs of efficient ordering, financial results, and customer service levels.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to implement analysis in production systems and through their day to day process.
  • Lead team in analysis of impacts and locations of new fulfillment locations.
  • Design and implement plant warehousing strategies for production materials or finished products.
  • Monitor forecasts to identify changes to determine their effect on supply chain activities.


Reporting:
  • Create data audit processes and KPIs (key performance indicators) to ensure consistent data maintenance procedures.
  • Facilitate training to ensure data standards are understood, reported and maintained.
  • Provide a weekly status, progress and results reporting to the company.
  • Develop metrics associated with demand, service, and inventory management.
  • Effectively and proactively communicate with all levels of leadership about identified supply constraints and demand growth opportunities.


Management:
  • Building and manage an analytically driven team in supply planning processes.
  • Drive transparency and standardized work throughout the inventory team.
  • Reinforce and role model the corporate values.
  • Oversees the supervision of assigned personnel, which includes hiring, work allocation, training, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
  • Ensure effective and consistent administration of all company policies, procedures, programs, and systems.

  • Must demonstrate a penchant for action, a high level of professionalism, good judgement/decision making and an appropriate level of assertiveness and ambition.
  • Ability to work independently, typically initiating own tasks with input/guidance from director.

  • Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.

  • Full understanding of manufacturing and supply chain systems and environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and utilize data, metrics, and continuous improvement tools to consistently achieve organizational objectives.

Education, Training & Experience:
  • BS/MS in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Operations Management.
  • 10 years planning/supply chain/forecast management experience in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.
  • 5 years in a leadership role with responsibilities including: procurement, production scheduling/planning, inventory control.
  • Lean/6 Sigma or extensive formal continuous improvement training/experience strongly preferred.
  • Excellent level knowledge and understanding of forecasting/planning.
  • Outstanding communication and work ethic.
  • Can work as part of a team or independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive new demand plan process enhancements.
  • Exemplary analytical/problem solving skills sufficient to identify current or potential problems.
  • Strong influencer, empowered and capable of leading cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to handle pressure and take direction in a demanding environment.
  • Solid project management skills.
