Virtues
Green gooseberries are closely related to Amla, a gooseberry found in India that is dried and made into a powder for use in Ayurvedic practices. The fruit is rich in vitamin C and is said to have potential antioxidant and anti-aging benefits.
Turmeric’s important ingredient, curcumin, is not easily absorbed by the body. When you add black pepper, turmeric becomes more bioavailable and the body is better able to absorb the curcumin therefore intensifying the anti-inflammatory effects.
Where to buy
Gooseberries are sometimes hard to find in the stores. We recommend purchasing them online at Northwest Wild Foods.
