Bastet, goddess of women's secrets, cats and fertility is believed to be the personification of the soul of Aset. She is represented either as a woman with the head of a domesticated cat, a lioness or as a desert sand-cat.

Alchemy was born in ancient Egypt, where the word Khem was used in reference to the fertility of the flood plains around the Nile. The ancient alchemists knew that even the weeds found on the fertile banks of the Nile could be used for regenerative purposes.
